Work Sessions and Due Dates - Westward Expansion Newspaper Project

Below please find due-dates for our 3rd TCSD1 US History Standard: The Westward Expansion Periodical Project

It is very important: If a student misses one of the dates to do everything possible to plan ahead and stay caught up with research, layout, writing and due dates.

All dates are for February 2010:

Wed/Thurs 10, 11: Intro to Project, examples from previous years. Non-Internet research

Fri, 12: JH Historical Society guest speaker! (Student note-taking required/collected)

Tues, 16: Tech Lab: Historical Character photos and student photo-taking session. Online Research

Wed/Thurs: 17, 18: Media Center research classes w/ Ms. Swiggum and other library staff. (All notes/citations due at end of today's class.) Homework for Friday: 1st article complete in MS Word format - Use flash-drives or Google Docs.

Fri, 19: HW Due today - 1st historical fiction article complete! Tech. Lab with Ms. Riley - Newspaper Layout and Formating - This is a critical class! If missed, please come in after school.
HW for Monday: Write rough drafts of final 2-3 articles. Use a flash-drive or google docs.

Mon, 22: Editing of 3-5 articles in-class. Composition of advertisement and geographic reference requirements.

Tues, 23: Photoshop Editing with Ms. Rominger in the Imac lab- All digital images must be found, cited and saved in a specific folder before this class.

Wed, 24: Peer and Teacher editing of articles with Mr. Yazzolino's classes.

Thurs, 25: Final Composition. Projects handed-in today will receive extra credit!

Friday, 26: Final projects due! Peer Gallery Walk and celebration of final products! (Projects lose 10% per day if late unless arranged ahead of time with the teacher).
